Howell helps promote Western Australia to 300 Asian ‘Aussie Specialists’
Margaret River Hospitality Group Executive Chef Tony Howell has a busy three days ahead: 105 appointments with 300 ‘Aussie Specialist’ travel agents to showcase Western Australia using the State’s amazing produce. Welcome to Corroboree Asia 2016.
The inaugural Corroboree Asia event will be held in Perth Conference and Exhibition Centre from Monday 5th to Friday 9th September 2016.
Corroboree Asia is an Australia-based travel trade event that combines a training workshop and familiarisation visits exclusively for qualified Aussie Specialist agents from Greater China and other key Asian markets including Japan, Korea, India, Malaysia, Indonesia and Singapore.
These qualified Aussie Specialist agents are front-line retail agents who actively sell Australia as a preferred long-haul destination to Asian travellers.
Set up like a speed-dating event, Howell will be in the Tourism Western Australia booth and have just five minutes to talk to a group of four travel agents at a time while plating up.
“I’ll be prepping a marron dish with garlic butter and truffle – prized local produce that the travel agents will barbeque themselves. I reckon the barbequed marron will whet their appetites to learn more about Western Australia and the awesome food we have here,” Howell says.
“It’s a privilege to showcase such fine ingredients to those who will ultimately sell WA as a destination, encouraging more Asian visitors to our State. I’m proud to be an ambassador for WA.”
Corroboree Asia 2016 is a Tourism Australia event that provides a professional forum for Australian Sellers to train those qualified Aussie Specialist agents and strengthen specific product knowledge. In addition, through familiarisation visits, the agents will have first-hand experience with quality Australian tourism products, enhancing their ability to promote and sell Australia.
